Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Hastings was founded in 1863. Hastings was then a village of less than 1,500.

It was the third year of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln was president. The telegraph and telephone, as well as electricity,

were refinements for the future.

Today, Emmanuel Church continues to serve the Barry County area. We welcome you to worship with us.

We are a member of the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes and thus part of the Episcopal Church in the United States.

Together, we are members of the worldwide Anglican Communion, the third largest Christian communion on earth

with about 80 million active members.

We are passionate about creation care and have installed a solar array that helps to power our buildings.

We are also active in our community, whether we’re singing with the Lakewood Choral Society, or working for racial reconciliation.

We welcome persons of all conditions, all family sorts and shapes, all gender and sexual identities and all abilities.

Visiting with us? Come as you are. Some folks like to get dressed up, some wear shorts and flip flops, and both are fine!

We don’t currently offer a nursery, but we do have a family area, and your kiddos are allowed to be who they are;

their giggles, voices, laughter or tears are all welcome with us.
